Learning Accents

Post  Mochan on Fri Jun 27, 2008 1:56 pm

We wanted to let everyone know about a couple websites to help you learn accents:

http://accent.gmu.edu/browse.php

http://web.ku.edu/idea/

Thanks to Bomberman and Lucien for the websites.

Also, if you want, for fun, give us an audio sample of some of your best (or worst) accents. >D

Wow.. just went to the IDEA and they are sorely lacking in some dialects XD That's surprising to me. And the ones they did have of the dialects I wanted were from people who had lived in the states so long that they had lost 90% of their accents which is what the site is for. Wow. For such a respected site, I'm surprised at the poor quality of not only the recordings themselves but the strength of accents available. I guess looking for Eastern European dialects isn't common enough to warrant quality checks XD
